Data Preservation Promise

Last updated · 12 June 2026

When a family pays to preserve a life story, they are trusting us with something irreplaceable. This page explains, in plain language, how we honour that trust.

1. Permanent by design

Every published story is issued a permanent Story ID, a permanent URL and a permanent QR code. These never change, not when you rename the story, not when you transition a Living Legacy into a Memorial, and not if our branding or domain evolves. The QR code you print today will still resolve to the same story in decades to come.

2. Infrastructure

Eternal Memorial is built on modern cloud infrastructure designed for security, reliability and long-term preservation.

Stories, photographs and account information are stored using trusted cloud providers with redundant systems, encrypted storage and industry-standard security controls. The platform is designed so that no single hardware failure can result in the loss of a published story.

3. Daily backups

The full platform (database and stored media) is backed up every day to redundant storage. Backups are retained on a rolling schedule that lets us restore recent points in time. Backups are encrypted at rest.

4. Redundancy

Story content is stored across multiple physical locations within our providers' regions. A single hardware failure cannot lose a story. We continuously monitor the health of the platform and work to resolve service issues as quickly as possible.

5. Story Preservation

The one-time A$99 Story Preservation fee funds the long-term hosting, backup and delivery of a story. Once a story has been published under Story Preservation, it remains publicly accessible without any ongoing subscription requirement. If underlying provider costs change materially, we will absorb them where reasonable rather than ask families to pay again.

6. Preservation Plus

Preservation Plus (A$29 per year) funds ongoing editing, tributes, Legacy Messages and Guardian collaboration. Cancelling Preservation Plus does not remove the story. Story Preservation continues for the life of the platform.

7. Story Guardians

You can appoint Story Guardians, trusted family members who can care for the story over time. Guardians help ensure a story keeps a human caretaker across generations, not just an account holder.

8. Ownership and Access

Your story remains yours.

Story Preservation is designed to preserve and present your content, not transfer ownership of it. Story owners and authorised Story Guardians retain control over story management features available through the platform.

9. Continuity

Eternal Memorial is committed to long-term continuity.

In the unlikely event that the platform can no longer continue operating, we will make reasonable efforts to:

While no online service can guarantee perpetual operation under all circumstances, long-term preservation remains a core purpose of Eternal Memorial and influences the way the platform is designed and maintained.

10. Beta acknowledgement

Eternal Memorial is currently in beta. These commitments reflect how the platform is built today; we will continue to strengthen them as we grow, and we will tell you honestly when something changes.
